Geography of Panchgani

Panchgani is located in midst of five hills in the Sahyadri mountain ranges and the graceful river Krishna flowing nearby. The picturesque five hills covering the hill town of Panchgani are covered by a volcanic plateau, the second highest in Asia after the plateau of Tibet, also known as the ‘Table Land’. The plateau is a part of the Deccan Plateau and were emerged between the plates by pressure. It is also known for having high seismic activity with an epicenter adjacent to Koynanagar.
